Modelling the Astronomical Silicate Features: I. On the Spectrum Subtraction Method

چکیده
The assumption of additive absorptivity by different components in compound particles is a widely used method applied in the literature to the analysis of the chemical and structural properties of astronomical (circumstellar, interstellar, protostellar, and cometary) silicates as well as other materials. The errors intrinsic in this additivity assumption, which, in application to astronomical spectra, amounts in some case to spectrum subtraction have not always been adequately considered in previous works on silicate mineralogy. The failings in the “spectrum subtraction method” (intrinsically the same as the additive absorptivity assumption) are discussed here in terms of silicate core-ice mantle grains with various shapes. It is shown that these assumptions result in substantial errors for spherical grains. For spheroidal grains, the errors are less significant and the spectrum subtraction method can be used to remove the ice mantle effects. It is demonstrated that there is no significant improvement by considering a distribution of spheroidal shapes. It is further shown that the presence of additional organic mantles substantially modifies the silicate mineralogy interpretation.

Generally human vision system searches for salient regions and movements in video scenes to lessen the search space and effort. Using visual saliency map for modelling gives important information for understanding in many applications. In this paper we present a simple method with low computation load using visual saliency map for background subtraction in video stream. The proposed technique i...
متن کاملDependence of Spectroscopic Properties of Copper Oxide Based Silica Supported Nanostructure on Temperature
Various concentrations of copper were embedded into silica matrix to xerogel forms using copper source Cu(NO3)2∙3H2O. The xerogel samples were prepared by hydrolysis and condensation of Tetraethyl Ortho-Silicate (TEOS) with determination of new molar ratio of the components by the sol-gel method. After ambient drying, the xerogel samples were heated from 60 to 1000˚C at a slow heating rate (50°...

Background: The electrocardiogram artifact is a major contamination in the electromyogram signals when electromyogram signal is recorded from upper trunk muscles and because of that the contaminated electromyogram is not useful. Objective: Removing electrocardiogram contamination from electromyogram signals. Methods: In this paper, the clean electromyogram signal, electrocardiogram artifact and e...
متن کاملFabrication and study of color and physical properties for cobalt silicate-titanite ceramic pigment by sol-gel method
Cobalt-based blue ceramic pigments are widely used in ceramic industries due to characteristics such as temperature stability, chemical stability and high resistance to these coatings. In this research, the blue silicate - titanate cobalt ceramic pigment is synthesized by sol-gel method and the dispersed pigments were printed on the ceramic by silk screen printing method in the industrial produ...
متن کاملISO-SWS spectra of galaxies: Continuum and features
We present an inventory of mid-infrared spectral features detected in high resolution (R∼1500) ISO-SWS 2.4–45μm spectra of the galaxies M 82, NGC 253, Circinus, NGC 1068, and a position in the 30 Doradus region of the Large Magellanic Cloud. We discuss their identifications and highlight possible relations between these features and the physical state of the interstellar medium in galaxies. The...
